Sortaider – environmentally-friendly recycling solutions

Sortaider is an Estonian company designing and producing functional and practical waste sorting solutions.

Motivated to protect the environment, and offering the similar opportunity to others, we have developed recycling solutions that are environmentally-friendly and pleasing to the eye.

Our Nordic-style products are perfect for any interior and, due to their functionality, they also serve as design elements.

Our Sortaider Container received the Red Dot award in 2021, which acknowledged our efforts concerning both our product and the company as a whole.

Design

Sustainability and an environmentally-friendly lifestyle are trends that our designer Johannes Maltis is passionate about. Creating nature-friendly and functional recycling solutions is one of his ways to contribute to this.

Sortaider products have been designed in collaboration with our customers, and have undergone all the necessary improvements, but one of our original ideas – a screw-free solution – will always be Sortaider’s key feature.

Sortaider’s recycling solutions – an environmentally-friendly way to collect waste by type at source

Sortaider recycling stations have been developed with a focus on quality, simplicity and distinctive design. Our aim is to make sorting by waste type convenient and effective in any environment (e.g. kindergartens/schools, offices, public indoor spaces, etc.)

Sortaider products are made from FSC-certified Baltic birch plywood, which is produced using green energy. The moisture-resistant plywood is covered with Renner Pure Bio coatings that are made of raw materials from renewable sources, and it emits no volatile organic compounds (VOC).

The Sortaider production is waste-free – all the materials are consumed, and from the scrap that is unsuitable for our use, pellets are made. Our products contain plastic-free packaging, they are packed in boxes made from recycled cardboard.

The production chain as a whole is elaborate and sustainable. Let’s care for nature together!

Why is a wooden recycling bin better?

Sortaider products are made of FSC-certified water-resistant Baltic birch plywood, which is, due to its strength and durability, one of the most valued materials in the world. Since wood is a renewable resource, it has a lower carbon footprint than plastic. A wooden recycling bin is a more sustainable choice because wood can be recycled, and it’s biodegradable. Unlike metal and plastic, plywood does not emit CO2, but instead it stores carbon.

Why is a wooden recycling bin better?

Sortaider Container

The elegant and functional recycling station Sortaider Container, awarded with the Red Dot design award, is primarily designed for offices, hotels and other public indoor spaces. The container has three to five sections for sorting different types of waste. The types of waste are marked with pictograms on the front panel, and under the lid there are coloured, easy-to-understand sorting instructions. Openings of different shapes make it even more easy to use. Waste bags are fixed with innovative bag clips. The container is equipped with high-quality castor wheels that help to move the product more easily, and the front castors have brakes. With its eye-catching design, it is a perfect solution for any public space.

Sortaider modules

Minimalistic Sortaider recycling boxes are perfect for kitchens, rooms, offices, public indoor spaces. Sortaider modules are available in three different sizes. By connecting them, a recycling station for your real needs can be formed. The waste types are marked with pictograms on the front panel, and under the lid there are coloured, easy-to-understand sorting instructions. Each module has rear castor wheels for easier moving, and a functional compartment for storing trash bags.

To reduce CO2, Sortaider modules are delivered disassembled, but assembly is easy as no tools or screws are required.

Start-up subsidy project no. 2014-2020.5.01.20-1936

With the help of start-up subsidy project no. For 2014-2020.5.01.20-1936, Sortaider got enough assets to provide CNC milling services. The project supports Sortaider’s goals: to create new jobs and increase the company’s export capacity. The project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The amount of the grant was 14,612 euros.
